Why We Do Welcome Lunches
DOXA, YOU’RE WELCOME
We get it. We've all been there. It's your first (or fifth) Sunday at a new church, you got that sweet up-front parking spot, and the people next to you even moved over a seat and smiled as you sat down. You love the worship, the teaching is great, and the idea of living on mission for Christ gets you fired up. "I like this place. This could be home, where God is calling me to put down roots and grow. I wonder what they believe about..."
Whether it’s your first week or you’ve been here a year, if this sounds like you we’d love to invite you to the Doxa Welcome Lunch, a new rhythm for us as a family on the 2nd Sunday of every month. Here are three reasons why you should come to the next one:
1. YOU’RE HUNGRY, AND WE ARE CALLED TO EAT TOGETHER
Free lunch is a no brainer. Eating together is one of the things we do here- potlucks, parties, and meals with each other are a good thing, where connections are made and friendships take hold. Jesus ate with people for a reason, so we think it's good to start there. Did I mention it’s a free lunch? Bring yourself, some friends, or your whole family.
2. YOU WANT TO SEE WHERE YOU BELONG
There’s that thing you’re thinking, the question in your mind that can’t be answered during the 20 minutes of lingering after a gathering. What does Doxa believe about ____? Where can I try serving on a Sunday? How do I get connected to a Missional Community? How do I get Donald to play my favorite song on Sunday? Questions are good, you can ask anything you want (yes, anything!), and we have pastors and leaders from your region who can’t wait to meet you. We hope you make some friends and walk away with that clear next step to what God is calling you toward.
3. WE’RE A FAMILY, AND WE’D LOVE FOR YOU TO BE A PART OF IT
Really we’re a family of families who Gather on Sundays to be encouraged and learn, Go out on mission to love our neighborhoods in our Missional Communities, Give of our time, talents, and treasure, and Grow together in discipleship in smaller DNA groups to be more like Jesus. We Gather, Go, Give, and Grow. And we’ll talk all about how we do this at the Welcome Lunch.
We know it can feel like a big church, but there’s a place here at Doxa just for you- come take part in our vision to saturate the Eastside and beyond with the Gospel. See you at the next Doxa Welcome Lunch!
